"We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Road Less Traveled

"When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice...."

We are given the power to change the world, but it is up to us to make that change. But how are we to journey down a path of success and achievement if the path is not set out before us? It is so easy for us all to fall into the rhythm of the world, and to so easily be distracted by what we are meant to do not what we can do. We are bred to achieve and conquer and gain without any acknowledgment given to the world which enabled such success. How can we so easily forget our co-dependence? Without the world surrounding us, success would be empty, and power would mean nothing. The power we should seek to achieve is the power to pave our own path. One which leads to the fulfillment of mind and soul. One which enables others to rise to greatness. One which makes a change in this world plaugued by conformity.

It is so easy for our vision of happiness to be fogged with the sight of temporary accomplishment and shallow success. But the view beyond is so much greater. I see a world of opportunity and potential. My mind races with thoughts of freedom and exploration; the ability to change my life for the better. I was so confident that I could never lose that inspiration, that drive to bring meaning to my monotone lifestyle. I long to feel again that touch of desperation to seek and find and discover. I yearned for the sight of raw beauty and the feeling of power. But not the feeling of power over people or their actions, the power over myself.

We were meant to live, not to survive. We were not created to follow the paths of others, but rather to create paths of our own. The world is not a canvas waiting to be made into a masterpiece, but a work of art on its own. It does not need the finishing touch or the chiseling of man. Exploration of the unknown is what our purpose is. How can we follow such a normal, thoughtless life with such great potential just beyond it? I have come to discover, however, that this sort of drive and motivation does not come without a search. I continue to search for my purpose, but furthermore for my reason. The reason I must step out of the average motion, the reason I pave my path, the reason I am living. This reason is not something to be recorded or written for all to learn from, but something to end the wondering, the wandering. I wish to discover. I wish to succeed by my standards of success. I wish to go down the road less traveled.
